Why compress images?

Smaller images load faster, upload easier, and fit the strict file-size limits on job applications, visa and passport portals, exam registrations and government forms — many demand files under exactly 100KB or 200KB. Use Target size mode and this tool finds the best quality that fits.

FAQ

Is this image compressor really free?

Yes — free and unlimited. No caps, no signup, no watermarks.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs locally in your browser via JavaScript. Your files never touch a server.

How do I compress an image to an exact size like 100KB?

Choose "Target size" mode, enter 100 KB (or tap a preset), and compress. The tool automatically finds the highest quality that fits under your target.

Can I set a minimum size too, like 20KB to 50KB?

Yes. Many exam, visa and passport forms require a size range, not just a maximum. In Target size mode, enter a minimum next to the maximum and the tool aims to land inside your range — for JPG files it can add harmless padding data to reach the minimum exactly. Or pick your form from the "Applying for something?" presets and the range is set for you.

Which output format gives the smallest file?

WebP usually wins for photos, often 25-35% smaller than JPG at the same quality. JPG is the most compatible. PNG is lossless but larger.

Will compressing reduce quality?

At quality 80 or above the difference is invisible to most people — check for yourself with the before/after slider above.
